At some point (IIRC post-2.6.17) generic_file_read/write was removed in favor of do_sync_read/write. This patch makes this change to kernel/file-io.c so that IET compiles under these kernels. I've done some minor testing with the new module and kernel. Further testing is needed and it would be nice to perhaps surround the change with some #ifdef's so it still compiles with older 2.6.x kernels

    Thanks. But it seems you're using a really old version, since support for it has been added quite some time ago to the code in the repository and was also released with 0.4.15. So I'd strongly suggest updating.

    A general note: please don't post patches here but send them to the mailing list, as the tracker isn't exactly monitored constantly. Instead it's intended as a dumping ground for unsupported, experimental patches that won't get merged for various reasons.
