Hi all, I tried to use iscstarget as raw device for Oracle RAC db. however, it fail to create with the following error message: ORA-19510: failed to set size of 574 blocks for file "/dev/rdsk/c4t4d0s3" blocksize=3D16384) ORA-17505: ksfdrsz:3 Failed to resize file to size 574 blocks Would like to ask is iscsitarget can act as a Oracle raw device? Is that any config can fix this error? Thanks a lot!!!! my config: Client: OS: Solaris 9 (Sparc) Oracle: 10g RAC initiator: Cisco 3.3.6 Target: IET version: 0.4.13 OS: Fedora Core 4 kernel : 2.6.15-1.1830_FC4 --=20 Butler |

We use the linux-iscsi ini 3.6.3 on RHEL3U6 as well (isn't this another cisco ini descendant?) for oracle (no RAC though) and see filesystem (ext3) corruptions from time to time. RHEL4+ocfs2+iet work for me, btw. hth Steffen |

run tcdump at target side and get the iscsi traffic. not sure if it is because some special commands not support, or just ini issue. ming On Mon, 2006-05-22 at 16:55 +0800, Butler wrote: > However, we can't change the platform coz' the impact is too big. > > > On 5/22/06, Steffen Roegner <sro...@gm...> wrote: > K Chapman wrote: > > --- Butler <tea...@gm...> wrote: > > > > > >> Hi all, > >> > >> I tried to use iscstarget as raw device for Oracle > >> RAC db. > >> however, it fail to create with the following error > >> message: > >> > >> ORA-19510: failed to set size of 574 blocks for > >> file "/dev/rdsk/c4t4d0s3" > >> blocksize=16384) > >> ORA-17505: ksfdrsz:3 Failed to resize file to size > >> 574 blocks > >> > >> Would like to ask is iscsitarget can act as a Oracle > >> raw device? > >> Is that any config can fix this error? > >> > >> Thanks a lot!!!! > >> > >> my config: > >> > >> Client: > >> OS: Solaris 9 (Sparc) > >> Oracle: 10g RAC > >> initiator: Cisco 3.3.6 > >> > >> Target: > >> IET version: 0.4.13 > >> OS: Fedora Core 4 > >> kernel : 2.6.15-1.1830_FC4 > >> > >> -- > >> Butler > >> > > > > be careful with using the cisco ini on solaris. it > > doesnt follow some of the iscsi spec. on some of the > > targets iive used, its caused mem consumption until it > > fails. ive used qlogic iscsi hbas on solaris 7-9 that > > for sure work much better. i havent seen any updates > > >from cisco on iscsi inis, have they released any new > > ones recently??? > > > > > > If you need the iet storage, you could switch over to RHEL4 > with > open-iscsi ini and use ocfs2 instead of raw devices. > We use the linux-iscsi ini 3.6.3 on RHEL3U6 as well (isn't > this another > cisco ini descendant?) for oracle (no RAC though) > and see filesystem (ext3) corruptions from time to time. > RHEL4+ocfs2+iet work for me, btw. > > hth > Steffen > > > ------------------------------------------------------- > Using Tomcat but need to do more?
