Hi, I am doing some work on a Linux (2.4 kernel) device with a serial port and I need to be able to send IR remote signals to another device via a commercial serial dongle IR transmitter. I don't need to receive anything. The only issue is that this is an embedded system, and I can't change the kernel. All I can do is run my own compiled program or use the device's http-api. The http-api has a serial port interface and I was hoping that this might be as simple as writing the right remote codes to the serial port (i.e. with no real IR driver.) After looking into this a bit, I've gathered that IR driver functionality is required. So now I am looking into building a non-kernel standalone LIRC module. Is this possible? Can anyone suggest what might be involved? I am using an ACTiSYS ACT-IR200L IrDA transmitter, but I can use any similar device. Many thanks, Tim |
