i have no chance to change my hardware from mcp2150 to any other chips .
i try to applay a patch from Ricky Marino
to my 2.6.7 kernel. but it doesnot help me.
i use minicom via /dev/ircomm0 to contact my mcp2150. and got no answer
and minicom need to be killed by signal 9.
i have no problems with my irda setup. it works fine with ericsson t 39
(after little tuning like this
mknod /dev/ircomm1 c 161 1
echo 57600 > /proc/sys/net/irda/max_baud_rate
echo 64 > /proc/sys/net/irda/max_tx_data_size
echo 10000 > /proc/sys/net/irda/min_tx_turn_time
echo 1 > /proc/sys/net/irda/max_tx_window
echo 2 > /proc/sys/net/irda/debug
running irdadump - i see, that link is established.
may be i need to ajust something in my /proc/sys/net/irda?
I cant' contact Ricy Marino. I have not his email. May be someone solved
using his patch? please, can you send me your details? (kernel,irda
patch version, irda paraeters)

I solved the problem making some simple changes:
on file net/irda/irlmp_frame.c, change the lines 468/469 (bottom of the
if ((lsap->slsap_sel == slsap_sel) &&
(lsap->dlsap_sel == dlsap_sel))
if ((lsap->dlsap_sel == dlsap_sel))
This will work only for the MCP215X!
