We have a IrDA encoder/decoder device. It can
transmit/receive data upto 4 Mbps. The device can only
transmit and receive data. There is no IrLAP or any
other higher IrDA protocol stack functionality.
We would like to test this device for basic infrared
data transmission and reception. The test procdeure we
intend to use is:
1. Buy a USB dongle for which linux device driver is
written and supports data transmission upto 4 Mbps.
2. Directly use the that device driver to send and
recieve data to/from our IrDA device. ( No IrLAP or
higher layer functionality is used. )
I would like to know the following things.
1. Is such a test procedure possible and correct.
2. For which dongle manufacturer is a linux driver
available which can transmit data upto 4 Mbps.
If possible, please also provide the link from which
the linux device driver can be downloaded for that
Thanks for all your suggestions.
