Where is the irdadump log ?

I'm sorry, but I will have to ask you to apply some patches,
because there is some know IrCOMM bugs that are fixed by those
Go to my web page, and apply all patches in the section
"included in 2.4.21-pre3", and then all patches in "pending for
2.4.22". Recompile, retest, irdadump...

You didn't compile in Ultra support. And you will need the
e-Squirt application on the Palm.

Did this and
echo 115200 > /proc/sys/net/irda/max_baud_rate
now it works.
Thank you very much!
