Thanks again, I install setserial and free the port:

setserial /dev/ttyS2 uart none
modprobe lirc_sir
/etc/init.d/lirc restart

But there is nothing on irrecord:

irrecord -H default -d /dev/lirc0 /tmp/lircd.conf
...
irrecord: no data for 10 secs, aborting
irrecord: gap not found, can't continue
( presed some buttons)

I have the device:

# ls -l /dev/ | grep lirc
crw-rw---- 1 root video      61,   0 2009-09-20 16:19 lirc0
srw-rw-rw- 1 root root             0 2009-09-20 16:22 lircd

I need to configure something on /etc/lirc/ to get working irrecord?

Thank you very much, I have been fighting wirh my laptop IR for two years, I think that the end is near.

Thanks and regards

You have to free the port first using:
setserial /dev/ttyS2 uart none
