I'd like to be able to export my subscriptions to an xml
file (and optionally, html via a user-customisable XSLT
transform?)

Maybe subscription lists can be exported and imported
as a "I'm listening to" RSS feeds.
iPodder should optionally publish these "listening to"
feeds to various services or via ftp to a web site.
When users subscribe to their friends "listening to"
feeds, iPodder should check for duplicate feeds, flag any
new feeds as "trying out" and by default download just a
episodes of any "trying out" feeds. iPodder should be able
to follow feeds recursively, but needs to allow user/branch
    blocking.

I would love to implement this myself, but I'm just learning
python so someone else should take the lead.
