after having built 0.47 for Mac OS X 10.4, I got the feeling that it
is quite a bit slower than 0.46 was. Now I tried to verify that
suspicion (all done on a G4, 1350MHz, 960MB RAM):
Launching inkscape + X11:
Opening a very tiny SVG file (3350B), inkscape already open:
Opening a more complex SVG file, inkscape already open:
Importing a pdf file with lots of text, than selecting all and
ungrouping all the contents (time is just for the ungrouping):
Probabely this is just an issue of my home brew thing - but maybe
this is an issue which is more easily noticeable on such a slow
machine like mine. So I'd be grateful if people on other platforms
would cross-check that.
In the case it is a general issue it may be well worth to put some
effort in fixing it in 048.
attached is a comparison, on Windows XP, of time required to start Inkscape.
Time to load is based on 100% CPU usage, not on the appearance of the visual
display, which happens faster.
Inkscape 0.47pre1 (Jul 3 2009) - 7 seconds
Inkscape 0.47 r22583 (Nov 21 2009) - 22 seconds
Thanks in advance,
