> If Kartik needs help with that, I will also join in. I have a personal > interest in seeing good Gujarati support in etch. The current status is "up to you guys to do the work on level 1". I would also say "hurry up" because we (the D-I team) will probably freeze the language list for the D-I Release Candidate versions which are likely to happen around September-October. Having at least 30% of the level1 translated is needed to "unfreeze" a language, as long as these 30% are the the strings that are at the beginning of the D-I level 1 POT file. Kartik is the boss here..... > > btw, Christian we also have a prospective Telugu (and maybe Kannada) > translator for d-i. I have asked him to contact you directly. Nothing has been started for Telugu, so he/she should get in touch with me to go through the New Language Process. For Kannada, we are stuck in the middle of the New Language Process with Thejesh G Nagarathna. He created an Alioth account and should now test commit access, but I've got no news since several weeks. Malayalam is also stuck. Vivek Varghese Cherian went through all the New Language Process but no translation work has begun yet. Hindi is activated....but the translation activity is very low. Ravi Shrivastava and Nishant Sharma are listed as coordinators. I find a bit too bad that no more activity happens. Bengali, Punjabi and Tamil are active and safe...So is Nepali (and Dzongkha as many of you heard/read, but this is of course not an Indic language). All status info on D-I is at: http://people.debian.org/~bubulle/d-i/i18n-doc/languages.html http://people.debian.org/~seppy/d-i/translation-status.html |

Christian, As suggested by you long back -:) I made an announcement for Marathi (mr-IN) translations for D-I at deb...@li..., and deb...@li... and now waiting for their response. Hopefully very soon I'll be starting my work but may be after getting confirmation from deb...@li... and completing all formalities. I am still to announce this at volunteers community who have been in the flow since long time back.
