Hallo! Out of curiosity (a friend of mine manually set up a mail server, having a hard time configuring it, I wanted to learn if it really has to be so hard) I wanted to install and test Indimail on my laptop with Debian GNU/Linux 7.6 64 bit. I downloaded the appropriate file and wanted to install it. During installation there was an error. Because I didn't actually want to set up a mail server for usage, I ignored the error, said to myself "O. K., it isn't working, but I do not need it either". For this reason I didn't even really notice the error message, shame on me. Now I wanted to remove/purge Indimail, and it isn't working. If trying to do so I get the following error: $ sudo dpkg -P indimail (Reading database ... 166749 files and directories currently installed.) Removing indimail ... /var/lib/dpkg/info/indimail.prerm: 34: /var/lib/dpkg/info/indimail.prerm: /etc/init.d/indimail: not found dpkg: error processing indimail (--purge): subprocess installed pre-removal script returned error exit status 127 Errors were encountered while processing: indimail What can I do? Line 34 of /var/lib/dpkg/info/indimail.prerm says ${prefix}/sbin/initsvc -status || /etc/init.d/indimail stop Indeed, I do not have a service called indimail. Is this the reason why it fails? What can I do in order to cleanly purge Indimail? Best regards, Dimitris |
