New Patch: Smarty Update and Decoupling

The first in a series of patches to ImpressCMS is now ready to download and apply. This patch will update Smarty to version 2.6.28 and remove the email protection hack from the Smarty files and establishes it as a preload instead.

The changes from Smarty were to make it compliant with PHP 5.5 and to reapply a fix that had not been carried forward from a previous version.

Patches are designed to bring you features and fixes much quicker - and be simple to apply to your sites.

Google Translation Error Identified - Response Needed

A rather unfortunate error has been discovered in how Google Translate is translating "ImpressCMS" to other languages. We all know that Google Translate and all other machine translation is not 100% accurate, but it is usually quite good and recognizing names and brands. It is not the case with XOOPS and ImpressCMS.

An email has been sent the XOOPS project administrator requesting their participation in resolving this error, and they have offered their full support in this matter, including a letter of support to Google. They agree with us this is not helping ImpressCMS nor XOOPS. We have also initiated a request with Google to investigate the source of the error and to provide us with steps to resolve globally.

Release Candidate 1.3.5 is Now Available

The developers have taken some time to go through the 1.3.x branch to apply some fixes to our primary version and are now releasing ImpressCMS 1.3.5 RC2. RC2, because RC1 was never released. The primary focus of this release is an update to the Smarty library, for security purposes, updates to several external libraries (jQuery, jQuery UI, Colorbox, HTML Purifier, TinyMCE and TCPDF), and updates to core modules. Since this is a release candidate, you are urged to test this as widely as possible in your environment and report any issues before the final stable release is published.
