When I initially created my set of CL-Cookbook instructions for setting up an emacs development environment for Windows, I stated that the following line:
(pushnew (pathname ".lisp") system::*source-file-types*)
should be in the _clisprc.lisp initialization file. I had taken this information from the INSTALLATION instructions in ilisp.
However, Sam Steingold mentioned on c.l.l. "please do not suggest that users modify internal variables, such as
`system::*source-file-types*' (btw, it already has ".lisp" in it)."
I removed this statement from the _clisprc.lisp initialization file and tried a fresh installation of clisp & ilisp and was able to compile the clisp initialization files without any problems. I also verified that the system::*source-file-types* variable does indeed have ".lisp" as one of its values. Therefore, I have corrected my instructions. The ILISP INSTALLATION file should probably be corrected as well.
