I'm not sure if this a straight lisp-mode question
or an ilisp question, but here I go.  BTW, I'm
    using XEmacs.

It seems to be standard practice that indentation
of if forms should have the else portion in-line
    with the then portion like:

       (if (null lst)
            nil
            (if (...

But, the lisp mode will always indent with the
third line having less indent than the second.
I have searched through the variables and
functions in XEmacs looking for a flag or
    something but without luck.

How do I get the automatic proper indentation?

Of course, a search at Google Groups turns up
      an answer:

      (put 'if 'lisp-indent-function 0)

Sorry for the waste of bandwidth.  =)

      • As a matter of fact there are other things
        involved here.

Anyway, your is a good solution.

BTW.  ILISP does not deal with indentation.

        Cheers
