Category: other Group: None Status: Open Priority: 5 Submitted By: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Assigned to: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Summary: Privoxy Development Status Initial Comment: Looking at the last stable release date (Feb04) suggests that Privoxy may be no longer in development. In fact, looking at the CVS shows that nothing has been touched in at least 8 months. None of the current OS distros are available for download either. So what is the status? Is Privoxy a dead product? Is there a good place to look for a follow-on product? In short, what's up (or not)? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Date: 2005-07-18 12:35 Message: Logged In: NO Quote: All previous developers have moved on, and/or had major life changes. Yes, it's the circle of life. However this doesn't conceal the fact that Privoxy is a fine product. It does its work quietly on the background on my Freesco (!) box protecting the network behind it. I tried to use hosts file instead but that was terribly slowing down internet traffic. Privoxy is a much much better solution. Only trouble is... I am a noob ( in some respects ) So if clever people are willing to adapt the ACTIONS FILE to the newest standards, it would be great! You can find hosts files at: http://ssmedia.com/utilities/hosts/hosts.cfm?format=pc http://everythingisnt.com/hosts http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.txt Strampke ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Hal Burgiss (hal9) Date: 2005-06-29 18:41 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=322640 There is no significant development going on (obviously). David seems (Hi David!) to pop up every now and then with something, but that's about it. Developers WANTED, I guess. All previous developers have moved on, and/or had major life changes. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=211118&aid=1229754&group_id=11118 |
