1) My sincerest appology to Magnus for misspelling your name in a recent post! 2) Thank you Haroon for mentioning the "old mailing list" at groups.yahoo.com in one of those "noreply" things this list now receives. I did not know such a group had existed and was unaware of the history beind this project. For me it cleared up much confusion. Of the 500+ that I read, there is one memorable quote from a user that I found most amusing: "I do not regard an animated monkey flying backwards and forwards across my screen as low pressure advertising." ... I just love that. 3) To help address the efficiency issues of content filtering, I'd like to point out that I never saw any follow up on Stefan's note about a version of the proxy that adds GZIP compression for the benefit of its users: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/junkbuster-users/message/1219 Since (IMHO) GZIP seems to be the most widely used HTTP compression (both from host sites and acceptable by browsers) perhaps it would be possible to: - Only accept GZIP compression, removing any others from the client Accept header. - Decompress prior to filtering - If nothing had to be filtered, send the originally received GZIP content. - Else, re-compress the filtered results and send the client fresh GZIP content.
