Support Requests item #3139759, was opened at 2010-12-18 15:34 Message generated for change (Comment added) made by sf-robot You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=211118&aid=3139759&group_id=11118 Please note that this message will contain a full copy of the comment thread, including the initial issue submission, for this request, not just the latest update. Category: other Group: None >Status: Closed Priority: 5 Private: No Submitted By: dalek1999 (dalek1999) Assigned to: Fabian Keil (fabiankeil) Summary: Multiple Problems Initial Comment: Privoxy 3.0.16 Win XP Pro SP3 I have multiple (or related) ongoing problems. 1. Cannot access web interafce via internal web address. Get msg page unavialble in all browser(s) 2. Page rendering is inconsistently incorrect via Privoxy. 3. When using debug, the mere fact that certain debug options are on seems to affect page rendering. 4. When editing config to try different debug settings I noticed that much of the time I do not get log entry to say Privoxy has read the changed config. I am never sure whether it has read the config changes or not. What is it supposed to do? 5. Simply disabling Privoxy does not always fix page rendering. 6. With regard to 1 above I just discovered that if another browser is running (not via prox) the web interface page comes up in browser that is running via Privoxy. I only discovered this as I was using FFox to log this report as Opera via Privoxy was giving errors. I could easily be missing something in config. Some of the problems feel like timimg or conflict problems...? Any help/suggestions welcome. Unfortunately most of your description is pretty vague ("feels slow", "take long time", "are invariably wrong"). Is there a chance that you could quantify this? For example if you download something with both Privoxy and "Proximitron", what is the measured performance difference. For the rendering issue in Opera you could try disabling keep-alive support like I suggested in my first comment. The problem with configuration file changes not applied to all connections right away should be addressed in CVS now. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: dalek1999 (dalek1999) Date: 2010-12-20 00:39 Message: One point I forgot to mention is that the Enable /Diable switch does not work (for me anyway). I would expect that when Privoxy is not enabled that it would be transparent. For me it definetly is not - even when disbaled it interferes with web browsing. Bug? Also Privoxy "feels" visibly slow. Certainly compared to say Proximitron. I watch the little radar screen go round and round and pages take long time to display - a lot longer than I would expect and when they do they are invariably wrong anyway. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: dalek1999 (dalek1999) Date: 2010-12-19 23:31 Message: Update: I uninstalled 3.0.16 and installed latest 3.0.17 (std filters etc.) I can now get access to web config page although it does not alaways render correctly 1st time. Initailly it displays in plain text style and only after one or more page reloads does it render correctly formatted in html style (using Opera 10.63) Web pages still fail - for example trying to post to this forum via Opera and Privoxy Opera gives error msg connection closed by remote server. (Posting now via FF and no proxy all is OK). I take note of what u say about config re-reading. I would suggest it would be helpful if log msgs showed as part of their prefix the debug level no. which triggered them. This would make it a lot easier to check and filter the log which obviously can get very big. As a start to debug here is level 32768 accesiing web interface page (not correctly formatted) Please let me know whcih debug levels you wnat switched on for trace of a failing website. Without further details and maybe a logfile with the debug settings described at http://www.privoxy.org/user-manual/contact.html#CONTACT-BUGS I can only comment on issue 4). Privoxy should notice a configuration file change at the time the first new client connections comes in after the change has been made. Privoxy will then reload the file and depending on your debug settings log the fact that it did. Depending on the change, it may already be applied to the connection that caused the reload, but some changes only apply to the following client connections. The change will not apply to client connections that have been opened before the change has been made and that may be the problem you are seeing. If you temporarily set keep-alive-timeout to 0 the problem should disappear. It's a known issue and will probably be fixed before the next release. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=211118&aid=3139759&group_id=11118 |
