Category: other Group: None Status: Open Priority: 5 Private: No Submitted By: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Assigned to: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Summary: Secure Windows Build Initial Comment: I dont know if this is the correct place for this, but... I was wondering if anyone has a secure windows build. What do i mean by secure? Good question. I read that if you want to get rid of the "go there anyway" link and not have any workarounds... then you need to create a secure build using "./configure --disable-toggle --disable-editor --disable-force". Im a windows developer-hack typed person and found it really difficult to try and rebuild the source period... let alone trying to use "./configure --disable-toggle --disable-editor --disable-force". =) So that led me to try here. I would really like a rebuild of the source that used "./configure --disable-toggle --disable-editor --disable-force" and was for windows. Does anyone out there have one or know where i can get one? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: dimethicone (dimethicone) Date: 2007-10-24 02:11 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1556489 Originator: NO Thanks icmp30. I don't have a machine setup to compile in or for windows right now. A CVS build is always appreciated. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: icmp30 (icmp30) Date: 2007-10-23 20:26 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1428111 Originator: NO > Does anyone have an estimate on when a secure windows build would be > available. http://www.zshare.net/download/44011217f05fbc/ It was built using ./configure --enable-mingw32 --disable-toggle --disable-editor --disable-force from the current cvs sources. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Date: 2007-10-23 00:09 Message: Logged In: NO Yeah i had witnessed how easy it was to get around the url blocking. Does anyone have an estimate on when a secure windows build would be available. -Orig Poster dc ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Fabian Keil (fabiankeil) Date: 2007-10-16 20:05 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=875547 Originator: NO It wouldn't be difficult at all and such an option has been in CVS for several month now. Like dimethicone, I wouldn't recommend simply hiding the URLs either, unless it doesn't really matter whether or not the blocks are enforced. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: dimethicone (dimethicone) Date: 2007-10-15 04:14 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1556489 Originator: NO You could edit the templates, but I'd assume that if a user put in the right URL, they'd still get the result they wanted. IOW that's obfuscation, not security. It would be best if Privoxy had these options as configurable after compilation, in config.txt. I'm not sure how difficult that would be. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Date: 2007-10-01 18:33 Message: Logged In: NO You could simply alter the templates to remove the option, I believe that would work. It is commented with this tag: \ or go there anyway. \ \ This is within /program files/privoxy/templates/blocked, it is there 3 times. You could also make your own custom template if you need to customize further. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Date: 2007-09-05 21:55 Message: Logged In: NO I dont know if this is the correct place for this, but...
