Hi, I have a similar problem where usb-storage does not recognize my device properly. If i go into a folder like tuner it displays jibberish. Also if i try to browse with konqueror it will freeze. Yeh, I solved this by formating under windows and then, I've created 'tuner' and 'voice' directories from windows. Othewise, they are created "badly" by ifp firmware at the firt bootup after formating. I'm not sure whether latest UMS firmare fixed this...
