The version is IceWM 1.2.14.

When I switch between desktops, the focus was at
the second window of the current desktop (second in the
list displayed by Alt + Tab) but the first window was
displaying.

This seem to happen after I open JEdit (a java editor).
Previus version had even more severe problems with java
apps.
Whe a Dialog was displayed by the application, then
after the Dialog was closed, the application would
become last in the Alt + Tab list and would require
manual setting of focus.
The problems started when upgraded the Virtual Machine
to version 1.5 from Sun.
When updgraded to 1.2.14, the problem I mentioned
before is solved, but now I have problems when
switching between virtual
desktops.

I think the problem resides in IceWM, since other
Window Managers
have no such problems with Java Apps.

jedit/jvm seems to steal focus no matter which window had it
    before the desktop was changed.

this happens 50% of the time under metacity too, so I
    consider it a jre bug.
