Hi, I connect to a SuSE 10.1 linux machine via RealVNC 4.1.2 (Free Edition) from a Windows 2000 Prof. In RealVNC 4.1.2 one has the possibility to "pass special keys directly to server". With this option it is possible to use ctrl, alt... and alt-tab does not lead to a windowswitch on the local machine but on the remote one (the linux machine in my case). With kde and gnome alt-tab is working as expected but icewm doesn't recognize this key combination correctly. If I have two xterms open, the cursor changes its focus as long as I press alt-tab but "jumps" back to the old window. The other window-frame never gets the focus. Ctrl-tab to switch tabs in firefox works fine. I attach a file with a xev protocol (I pressed alt, tab and alt-tab). Is there a possibility to trim the alt key? In preferences alt-tab is not mentioned directly it is called QuickSwitch there. May be one could use keys? Or do I have to do something with xmodmap? Why is it working with Gnome and KDE but not with icewm? I suppose this depends on which level the keys are checked (I am not very familiar with the total process: I think it begins with some scan-codes form the keyboard goes through termcap and through xmodmap at some point...). Could anybody help? Choosing the window with the mouse drives me crazy. Using an other key combination could work... but then I always have to adapt when switching from remote to local and back. Thanks in advance, best regards, Andy |
