I hope the readers will forgive me for not being a subscriber; I'm a
desktop user (IceWM is the WM of choice) and there is already much on my
I'm running SuSE 7.3/i386 with the distro's IceWM-Gnome 1.0.8 without the
Gnome. Frequently, when clicking on the menu with the mouse, or when using
the keyboard accelerators, the menu will flash without highlighting my
selection. Thus, the menu item is not activated, the menu stays open.
It may well be the mouse, because in KDE 2.2.2 there are occasions when
I click on the root menu that there will be an audible click, followed by
a complete X-server lockup. I have to reboot to get out of it, because
the keyboard also become useless. However, there are no related problems
when I run Gnome, and XFce never has a problem. I prefer Ice, so I'd like
to find a solution.
The mouse is an older Logitech Mouseman Wheelmouse, properly installed on
the PS-2 port, and the wheel is activated in the XF86Config with the
proper option, etc. and imwheel is running. All my hardware is donated,
and I'm a charity user, so please don't suggest I pop out and buy a new
one. If it's the mouse at fault, I'll just live with it, but I wonder why
the bug shows up with the keyboard shortcuts, too.
