how does the iPhone support work? what do i have to do and what can i do with my iPhone and ialertu on my macbook?
The iPhone app (uAlertMe) will allow you to connect to iAlertU on the Mac, take snaps (and view them) using the webcam, get screenshots, get location information (on a map). The current version (v1.0) requires that you have an active network connection between the iphone and the mac, which over the internet can be problematic if the mac is behind a firewall. V1.1, currently waiting for review by Apple, will support push notifications.
Once that has been released by Apple, I will be releasing a new version of iAlertU that provides the push notification support also. The idea is that if the alarm is triggered, so long as the mac can get to the internet, the push notification will get to your iphone, even if your iphone can't directly connect. The notification will provide as much detail as can fit to help you identify where the mac is.
If you take a look at http://www.pkclsoft.com/pkclsoft/ualertme.html you will see what is involved in setting it up and what the app provides.
Apart from alarms, you can arm and disarm iAlertU from the iphone, just like using the infra-red remote.
