#3 X hangs when invoking i855 from within VMware

Host: linux, vmware: WinXP. Both on the same machine.
In vmware I go to fullscreen mode and connect with ssh to
my host and invoke i855crt-0.4
Sometimes it works, sometimes not. Then the screen goes
blank. Connecting to the machine from an external machine
works. But to get the screen visible I have to reboot.

My .xsession-errors looks like this:
