I am running HTDig to index mailman lists. It works fine on my test
lists. When I try it on a large list I get the following error.
mailman% /usr/local/bin/python -S /usr/local/mailman/cron/nightly_htdig
htdig'ing archive of list greenlist
error 13:mkstemp errorhtmerge: Word sort failed
I am running htdig-3.1.6 on MacOS X 10.1.5 The G3 has 512MB of memory.
I get an error running the Mailman arch command rebuild the same list's
figuring article archives
*** malloc: error: Can't allocate region

I was wondering if HTDig is having a memory error also and if anyone
knows the problem.

OK, so that's your RAM. But how much free disk space do you have? In
particular, mkstemp is creating temporary files--probably in /tmp on
your system. (This depends on your sort program and whether it respects
the TMPDIR environment variable.)
So if your /tmp drive is running out of disk space, the word sort will
