htdig-3.2.0b3 ignores Content-encoding: headers
which I would expect to be parsed to select an
uncompressor. E.g.
http://andrew.triumf.ca/test/latex.ps.gz returns
Content-type: application/postscript
Content-encoding: x-gzip
Similar for Content-encoding: x-compress

(Netscape & IE now support this feature, plus
encoding negotiation, and can handle compressed
documents transparently)

This is both a bug and a feature request. Ideally common
content-encodings like x-gzip and compress should be handled
transparently if the zlib is installed.

See also 594790 (rundig doesn't index with mod_gzip).
Probably related or the same bug.
