I can nearly compile htdig on cygwin out-of-the box.
The changes I had to do:
* Include
AC_CHECK_LIB(regex, regcomp)
to configure.in, as the default regexp functions
cause core dumps
* Compile htfuzzy/EndingsDB.cc and Regex.cc manually
using -I/usr/include in front of all -I flags. The
reason is that cygwin is case-insensitive and the
compiler gets confused by having Regex.h and the system
regex.h. Probably the best solution would be to rename
Regex.h?

    I don't know if the regex functions causing core dumps is
    fixed, but the htfuzzy files have certainly been renamed to
    solve this.

    Closing this. If there are further problems, please submit a
    new bug report.
