It would be great if the transfer tool could also transfer
views. Then - using the autotransfer patch - an existing
production database could be transfered to hsql on a
regular basis and there would be no need to worry if any
of the views were changed in the meantime.

    That's a fairly tall order, as it's not standard how to determine
    a view's descriptor (its DDL).

    It's always possible to transfer a materialization of a view,
    however. Also, it's typically pretty easy to export the DDL for
    a view from one product and then run the resulting DDL
    against the target, after the data for the underlying tables
    has been transfered.

    The other problem is that the DDL may need to differ between
    the source and target systems. For instance , HSQLDB does
    not currently support SCHEMA definitions, so a view, say from
    Oracle, that spans multiple schemas would need to be
    rewritten to work after transferring the structure and data for
    the underlying tables.
