I have a HP 3400C and I the scanner is reported as a class 10 device. Is this correct?
I use Ubuntu Breezy (kernel 2.6.12-9-k7, libusb-0.1.10a-17ubuntu1, hotplug 0.0.20040329-22ubuntu13, libsane 1.0.15-9ubuntu6)
from cat /proc/bus/usb/devices:
Bus=02 Lev=01 Prnt=01 Port=01 Cnt=01 Dev#= 4 Spd=12 MxCh= 0
D: Ver= 1.00 Cls=00(>ifc ) Sub=00 Prot=00 MxPS= 8 #Cfgs= 1
P: Vendor=03f0 ProdID=0405 Rev= 0.00
S: Product=Hewlett-Packard ScanJet 3400C
C:* #Ifs= 1 Cfg#= 1 Atr=40 MxPwr= 48mA
I: If#= 0 Alt= 0 #EPs= 3 Cls=10(unk. ) Sub=01 Prot=00 Driver=(none)
E: Ad=81(I) Atr=02(Bulk) MxPS= 64 Ivl=0ms
E: Ad=02(O) Atr=02(Bulk) MxPS= 64 Ivl=0ms
E: Ad=83(I) Atr=03(Int.) MxPS= 1 Ivl=8ms
I think the class reported by the scanner does not really matter. As far as I know, there is no such thing as an USB "scanner" class or something.
There is a usb class for scanners and ptp devices, the number is 0x06.
But this does not affect the functioning of the scanner, therefore I use it normally. I was only curious.
