I try to rip some DVDs. This is what i have:
- Linux Red Hat 7.1 (all updates applied)
- win32 codecs 010122
The problem is, mpeg2divx coredumps when trying to rip DVDs to DivX.
Usually, i get the first scene from the first VOB correctly riped, then
it coredumps. Then, for all the other VOBs on the same DVD it coredumps
right at the first frame.
So, i get a piece of .avi containing the first scene from the first VOB.
And then nothing. This happens with two DVDs (i just bought a DVD-player
and i only have these DVDs).
I tried these things:
- use gcc-2.95.3 instead
- use avifile-0.53
- use some older win32 codecs
- use libmpeg3-1.3
- change various compile parameters (-O, etc.)
But i always get the same result.
Now, one would expect the problem to be on the x2divx side. But i saw on
a forum at projectmayo that someone said he had the same problem, and
modified something in libmpeg3 (something related to file size???) and
the problem disappeared.
A friend of mine has similar problems on Mandrake (but, for him, it
coredumps in different places).
I tried to contact x2divx's author, but looks like he's in vacation or
Do you have any idea what the problem may be?
I can try different things, like running a strace, etc., just tell me
what can i do in order to help you find the problem.
