Hi,

hdparm --fibmap fails on files residing on lvm volumes because the device node (254,0) can't be found. There is nothing else preventing this functionality to work - just adding another block device node (254 0) in /dev is sufficient to make hdparm --fibmap work. So eventually hdparm should scan for devices not only in /dev/ but also in /dev/mapper/. Eventually --fibmap is the only option for now that makes sense to be run on dm devices.
