I think ic10 (which was there before I started) was an attempt to
satisfy those Kenwoods that used it, and the IF-232 interface. My guess
(and the person who created it) was that the commands were all the same.

Hmm... if the commands (and response format) for the 440S are the same
as the 940, they should be the same as with the R-5000. I know that the
only virtual difference between the R-5000 and 440S are the obvious tx
vs. rx part. The 440S also has an extra bank of 100 memories, whereas
the R-5000 doesn't. Something worth checking. I have good docs for the
IC-10 command set, as published by Kenwood, and I thought I captured
the majority of that in ic10.c. However, I'd be happy to see what you
have as well.
