Fenfire Loom 0.1 has been released. Loom is a focus+context RDF graph browser. RDF is the Resource Description Framework developed by W3C, <http://www.w3.org/RDF>. Focus+context means that there is always one 'focused' node, shown in the middle of the window, and that the nodes connected to the focused node are shown around it, as the 'context.' Loom is a part of the Fenfire project, which is building a RDF-based desktop environment where anything can be connected to anything else. However, Loom can also be used on its own; when the first release is complete, we will move it into an independent project at Savannah.nongnu.org. The release can be downloaded from: https://savannah.nongnu.org/files/?group=fenfire The files in this release are: loom-0.1.jar (6 MB) An executable JAR file containing Loom and all dependencies. loom-0.1-README.txt The Loom 0.1 readme, including instructions for using the JAR. loom-0.1-src.tar.gz (6 MB) The source code for this release, along with the dependencies in binary form (you only need this and Apache Ant to compile Loom). Our code is released under the GNU Lesser General Public License (LGPL). Please send comments to gz...@no.... A homepage with background information about Fenfire and Loom is currently being developed. Thank you for your interest, - Benja Fallenstein _______________________________________________ Gzz-announce mailing list Gzz...@no... http://mail.nongnu.org/mailman/listinfo/gzz-announce |

All, Fenfire Loom 0.1beta1 has been released. Loom is a focus+context RDF graph browser. RDF is the Resource Description Framework developed by W3C, <http://www.w3.org/RDF>. However, Loom can also be used on its own; when the first release is complete, we will move it into an independent project at Savannah.nongnu.org. The release can be downloaded from: https://savannah.nongnu.org/files/?group=fenfire This is a beta release. Expect there to be bugs. :-) Still, if you could find the time to download and test this release, your effort would be valued. In fact, one bug has already been reported: The README tells you to "unzip" a precompiled version and then run "loom.jar". However, you simply need to download loom-0.1beta1.jar, and then you need to type:: java -jar loom-0.1beta1.jar This will be fixed in the final release. The files in this release are: loom-0.1beta1.jar (6 MB) An executable JAR file containing Loom and all dependencies. loom-0.1beta1-README.txt The Loom 0.1beta1 readme, including instructions for using the JAR. loom-0.1beta1-src.tar.gz (6 MB) The source code for this release, along with the dependencies in binary form (you only need this and Apache Ant to compile Loom). GZigZag 0.6.3 has been released. This is an update to the 0.6 stable series. It supersedes the 0.6.2 release. We recommend that all users of GZigZag use a stable version. The following features have been added: - A PUICOPYRANK action (bound by default to Ctrl-Alt-C) has been added. It copies the cell contents along the y-dimension rank to the PUI clipboard, inserting newlines between cells. The following features have been improved: - The Row and Column views have been fixed to show the dimensions always. Previously, in some common cases the dimensions were hidden under the cells shown by the views. - The Ball-and-Strick cell view now does line breaking. - The Prez (presentation) module has been changed so that its view now uses the dimension settings (x, y and z axis) instead of fixed dimension names (d.1, d.2 and d.3), and to work with circular ranks. The following bugs have been fixed: - The mindmapping module is now included in the official jars. - Documentation/index.html had a HTML error; this is now fixed. NOTE: Due to a bug in Jikes, GZZ does not compile correctly with IBM's jikes 1.15 now; Sun's javac works (you may also want to try jikes 1.14). This is a release of the second implementation of GZigZag (nicknamed "Java"). It is currently in maintenance mode, and no significant new features will be added. Alpha releases of the third implementation under heavy development will start happening real soon now. Download instructions are at http://www.gzigzag.org/download.html . Note that it may take a while for the files to propagate to all mirrors. This release will soon be also available as part of Debian GNU/Linux (sid and hopefully also woody). If you happen to find a bug in GZigZag, please report it. You can find instructions at http://www.gzigzag.org/bugs.html . -- Antti-Juhani Kaijanaho, LuK (BSc) * http://www.iki.fi/gaia/ * ga...@ik... |

Unfortunately, we have made a mistake, causing these views not to be in the .jar files we are distributing. We will create 0.6.3 soon and make it work there. Sorry about that. - Benja |

GZigZag 0.6.2 has been released. This is an update to the 0.6 stable series. It supersedes the 0.6.1 release. We recommend that all users of GZigZag use a stable version. In this point release, a bug that made GZigZag not run on Java 1.2 and above has been fixed. The following new features have been added: - Asko Soukka's MindSundew and MindSun views, providing a mindmapping-like interface to the ZZ structure. They works together nicely with the common key bindings. You can find them under AllViews after creating a new space, or re-generating the system part of an old space using the '-new' command line option. Note that these views are only available in versions of GZigZag that include this module. The following features have been improved: - The row/column views show like they did previous to version 0.3.0, again. GZigZag 0.6.1 has been released. This is an update to the 0.6 stable series. It supersedes the 0.6.0 release. We recommend that all users of GZigZag use a stable version. This point release brings Flowing Clang back to life and adds an EDITHACK action (which enables PUI-style editing and entering Japanese characters, among other things). This is a release of the second implementation of GZigZag (nicknamed "Java"). It is currently in maintenance mode, and no significant new features will be added. GZigZag 0.6.0 has been released. This is a new major release. It starts a new stable series, 0.6, and supersedes previous releases. We are confident that most users will be able to upgrade painlessly to the 0.6 series. We recommend that all users of GZigZag use a stable version. NOTE: This version no longer supports the old storage format "persistent dimspace". Its use was deprecated with the 0.3.0 release and new spaces created since are most likely in the new "cachedimspace" format. For instructions on converting old format spaces to the new format, see http://www.xanadu.com.au/mail/zzdev/msg01041.html . If that does not work, please contact me. The following noteworthy new features have been added: - A preliminary ZigZag Transfer Protocol (ZTP) implementation - space dump and slurp functionality (for disaster recovery and format conversions) - accessing past versions of the space - a panic button - demo module: associative writing tool - a multilayered concept map - a -help option to the command line - a multiline cell view - support for cell-view specific bindings: when a cell view is associated with a cell in the structure (per d.cellview connection), in the cell edit mode bindings associated with that cellview can be used (so that content which isn't plain text can be edited easily) The following features have been improved: - the user's guide - the multimedia module - the virtual community module - sound support - view infrastructure The following notable bug fixes have been made: - the new UTF-8-based string scroll format actually works now - umlauts aren't doubled (don't appear twice when entered only once) Download instructions are at http://www.gzigzag.org/download.html . This release will also soon be available as part of Debian GNU/Linux (sid and woody). If you happen to find a bug in GZigZag, please report it. *** There is a new announcement mailing list. It is low-volume and recommended to all users of GZigZag. Subscribe at http://lists.sourceforge.net/mailman/listinfo/gzigzag-announce All release announcements are primarily posted there. *** GZigZag 0.3.0 has been released. This is a new major release. It starts a new stable series, 0.3, and thus marks the end of the 0.1 era. We hope that all users are able to upgrade to the 0.3 series, but acknowledge that there may be problems (which we most definitely want to hear about). We recommend that all users of GZigZag use a stable version. This new major release sports a new, improved user's guide (which is still a work in progress but already very useful). NOTE: A number of the changes made require that the system part of all spaces needs to recreated. The following other new features have been added: - Heraclitus Clang - XOR mode cursors - Text find - Flowing Clang - Internationalization - Calendar demo - IC View - Cursor View - Rewritten XML import / export - Wordnet applitude - ball&stick model - split vanishing into vanishing and rowcol - nicer geometry for rowcol - new, interesting parameters for vanishing: revper, halign - ZOb's names are now class names.
