[I'm sure Gumstix appreciates these postings :-) ] The biggest competitor with Gumstix that I am aware of is XBow's StarGate, which uses a 400MHz PXA255 and sports a full PCMCIA slot (802.11 cards work), host USB, and ethernet. It's about three times the size of the Gumstix and can be bought at various vendors including Acroname. The primary downside of the Stargate -- and it's a big one -- is price. It's $700. This is not atypical of embedded processors in this category. The price/performance of the Gumstix is very impressive. Sean |
