Brad Sorry for any confusion that our pre-announcement information on verdex2 has presented for you. See my responses below. From what I read on the wiki site, the verdex2 (not yet > available) replaces the verdex board. It also states that the only > expansion board available for verdex2 is the net-80 expansion board. = the statement at gumstix.net says the net80-vx expansion board is the only 80-pin board available for verdex2. Note that each of the 60-pin expansion boards that fit on verdex will fit on verdex2. > That seems a bit limited compared to all the other cool boards for verdex. > No other boards available? = Each of the 60-pin expansion boards that fit on verdex will fit on verdex2. = verdex2 has a microSD card slot on the motherboard itself, unlike the verdex motherboard. So, we are making a net80-vx board not a netmicroSD80-vx board. = The verdex2 line is planned to have the net80-vx board, which can take a wifi card, as well, to make the equivalent of the netwifi-microSD-vx, with the microSD on the verdex2 motherboard itself. > And, when will verdex2 boards be available? > > * If the 120pin connector is going to be replaced by the 80pin connector, > are all the 120pin boards going to be obsoleted and not redesigned for > 80pin? (which the site implies.) = As above on the 80-pin expansion board functions. = Gumstix plans to sell verdex products as long as we can. The constraint is the availability of the 120-pin connector from MOLEX, not a constraint on the part of Gumstix. Gumstix pre-bought thousands of these connectors when the EOL was announced, but the supply is limited. = Gumstix plans to make the verdex2 boards available in Q3/08. Further information is available, as you know, at: http://www.gumstix.net/Hardware/cat/Motherboards/112.html#faq104 = Note: all information provided prior to launch is subject to change. = I hope this email clears things up for you. = Don @ Gumstix ++++++++++++ > > > > > Thanks Much! > > brad > > -- > Brad Fuller > www.bradfuller.com > > ------------------------------------------------------------------------- > This SF.Net email is sponsored by the Moblin Your Move Developer's > challenge > Build the coolest Linux based applications with Moblin SDK & win great > prizes > Grand prize is a trip for two to an Open Source event anywhere in the world > http://moblin-contest.org/redirect.php?banner_id=100&url=/ > _______________________________________________ > gumstix-users mailing list > gum...@li... > https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/gumstix-users > |
