Jeremy- I started with the idea based around the pico-itx. :) It's what originally spawned this idea... Nice little board, however the "case" I'm using is a model of an Old Republic Star Destroyer. It's got a flattened diamond shape to it that looks to me to be too flat & thin at the edges for a pico-itx board's heatsink. The heat sink looks a little tall, if my eyeball's calibrated right. The plugs can all be moved, that's just a little work with a soldering iron & some cabling. Which leaves the heat sink as the only real issue of height. That's coupled with the issue of heat, which is very likely going to be a little too much for the plastic hull to take, even with some shielding and vents (disguised as battle damage, of course, with internal fans). The plastic melts under the heat of a zippo lighter, so it's very likely to soften and deform if the heat gets a little too much. However, that's not to say that I might not end up having to get a whole new "case" anyway... :) Or go back to the pico-itx. At the moment, I haven't yet actually purchased anything except the model and some 12mm case fans. Leery of dropping a fair bit of cash on something just to find out it doesn't fit! :) Thanks, Matt -- View this message in context: http://www.nabble.com/Newbie-with-Questions-tp15762449p15769022.html Sent from the Gumstix mailing list archive at Nabble.com. |
