When you say, "it still doesn't seem to pick up a signal", do you mean that it's doing what you described before - apparently running (you're seeing NMEA messages) but never locking to more than one or ... satellites and never generating a fix? Also, what boards do you have connected in your Gumstix stack? -- Alex On Fri, 10 Aug 2007 18:27:57 -0400, "Michael Caughey" <mi...@ca... m> said: Here's where I am. I have an older board, bought in June 2007. So I have a SMA connector. I have a passive antenna bought from SparkFun, [1]http://www.sparkfun.com/commerce/product_info.php?products_id= 177. I removed the 10ohm resistor and soldered in a straight wire on the GPSStix, so that I could use the passive antenna. I have sheilded the antenna from the Gumstix with some aluminum foil. I have my project in a 12"x12" cardboard box top. I placed the foil over one of the edges so there is a wall of foil between the antenna and the project. However it still doesn't seem to pick up a signal even sitting out doors with a clear sky view. On a seperate note, Since I now have the active antenna I decided to order the GPSStix which has the new GPS Receiver and new MCX connector, its on its way. I'll be able to use my new Active Antenna from UBlox with it. Hopefully that one will work better. That said, I still would like to get my existing GPSStix working with the passive antenna.
