[Gumstix-users] Tricking Sensors to use I2C

I have some sensors (Parallax) that do not support I2C directly, however,
I need to use I2C to communicate with them.  Ideally I would like to use
Dave Hyland's existing I2C functions to command the sensor to read data
with a second call used to return the data that was read.  Has anyone else
done something similar?  Do you have better suggestions on how I might
accomplish the task at hand?

I have written a simple C function to read data from one of the sensors,
now I'm trying to figure out which of the i2c-* files I would need to
modify.  Do I need to modify the I2C-bootloader, or the I2c-slave files? 
Secondly, would I also need to add my function to the I2C group?
