I ordered on the 16.12 last year a Overo Fire with PALO35, 3.5' display,
power supply, 8GB SD, USB cables (miniB-standard A, miniB to mini A).
The stuff arrived here as x-mas present on the 24th (**although the USB
mini-B to mini-A cable was missing**).
Already when I unpacked the PALO35 I noticed, that there was no IC6
mounted on the board (see img_5655_s.jpg). I though that this could be
some kind of "assemble option" and did not investigated it further. I
downloaded the palmtop image, put it on the SD and plugged it into the
Overo. Further I build some kind of "case", plugged the LCD and Overo
into the PALO35 and started it. I set the default display to LCD35 as
Runnig the board I noticed, that the U11 gets very hot - but the board
booted. To find the reason for this hot U11 chip I checked the power
supply which delivered the 5V. I removed the SD card and rebooted the
board on the Factory Software (boot.log). Investigating the Log I found
1. touch screen is not detected
2. Regulatory domain for BLUETOTH/(WLAN?) is US - has to be switched to
3. I got no display output (Screen stays black).
Booting on the image from the 24th gave me the same issues.
The first point could - if I read the schematic correctly - be explained
by the missing U11.
I did not dig deeper in the 2nd/3rd issue yet.
Question to PALO35 owners:
- Is on your board the IC6 assembled?
- Is on your board U11 getting as well very hot (you can not touch it
without burnig your finger after a few minutes)?
Display/ WLAN/Bluetooth issues could be some kind of configuration
I ordered a PALO35 (the Overo wireless pack) and received it on December 30.

Yes, I have an IC6 on my board.

My U11 doesn't seem to change temperature (stays at ambient, as far as
my finger can tell).
