My buddy and I are trying to enable the HWUART on our gumstix. Here is our
• verdex pro XL6P
We can't seem to talk to the HWUART (which is ttyS3?). We even tried to
reassign the bluetooth from ttyS3 to ttyS1. However, we didn't see that
option in the /etc/default/bluetooth settings. We also had trouble when
setting GPIOs using this command:
echo "AF1 out" > /proc/gpio/GPIO42
None of the GPIO changes were saved even though we didn't receive an error
message. When we tried to modify GPIO49 it locked up the gumstix.
Any ideas on what we're missing?

Some of the HWUART signals are used for talking to the network chip,
and thus with the netpro-vx board, HWUART isn't available.
