Which buildroot svn number shoul I use? I have a Verdex XL6P, Console-VX and I might use consoleKCD-VX. When I use the default buildroot download, do the menuconfig and then the final "make" the compilation fails. Thanks! Tony __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? I fetch the buildroot with : svn co http://svn.gumstix.com/gumstix-buildroot/trunk gumstix-buildroot I cd into the gumstix-buildroot make menuconfig I don't change anything - I simply exit the program. The program asks if I want to save any changes.... I answer yes to it even though I've done nothing Then I "make" I get this error below. Now at patch /home/gumstix/buildroot2/gumstix-buildroot/toolchain/uClibc/ftruncate-fixup.patch echo /home/gumstix/buildroot2/gumstix-buildroot/toolchain/uClibc > /home/gumstix/buildroot2/gumstix-buildroot/toolchain_build_arm_nofpu/uClibc/.patched cp toolchain/uClibc/uClibc.config /home/gumstix/buildroot2/gumstix-buildroot/toolchain_build_arm_nofpu/uClibc/.config cp: cannot stat `toolchain/uClibc/uClibc.config': No such file or directory make: *** [/home/gumstix/buildroot2/gumstix-buildroot/toolchain_build_arm_nofpu/uClibc/.configured] Error 1 [root@Sushi gumstix-buildroot]# Thanks in advance for any suggestions... -Tony Craig Hughes <cr...@gu...> wrote: On Oct 19, 2007, at 1:27 PM, Anthony DiRenzo wrote: > When I use the default buildroot download, do the menuconfig and > then the final "make" the compilation fails. Thanks for the suggestions, I appreciate the help. Let me repeat this so I can see if I have it right. For my Verdex XL6P with a Console-VX: step 1: svn co http://svn.gumstix.com/gumstix-buildroot/trunk gumstix-buildroot step 2: cd gumstix-build-root step 3: make defconfig step 4: make All this should compile - right? Answered my own question doing an "strace" of the make process. It wanted "true" which was in /usr/local/bin so a soft-link to /usr/bin solved it. =20 Is there some script running during make that is not inheriting paths? Sh does have /usr/local/bin in its path in /etc/profile (bash) so I'm wondering where PATH is getting dropped. As I said before I've never seen this behavior on any other projects and I've been doing hundreds of packages on this particular system for years (it's at least 12 years old - a much-updated/customized Slackware system). ___________________ Michael D. HI Anthony, > When I ran make defconfig the script gave me 12 choices. I decided to > choose option 1 - the default. I think choice 1 is generic arm. If you look at choices 11 & 12, you'll find specific mention of connex/basix for 11, and verdex for 12. This is a common problem.. You need to clean out your gumstix-buildroot. Also, selecting iwmmxt should not be a problem. The only place that I've had to fudge that is in the qtopia package. The linux-arm-g++ compiler won't compile qtopia with the -iwmmxt configure option added. It seems to work ok without it. From what I understand the iwmmxt chips are just normal arm arch chips with some extra registers. rm -rf build_arm_nofpu toolchain_* rm .config make defconfig make You should be set after this point. Once you've compiled the first time then you can use make menuconfig to add or remove whatever you want. Also... I recommend that you try the cdollar's trunk. He has some handy stuff built in (with a few problems, but we can work through that) like gtk2, x11r7, and matchbox window manager. I have a list of notes that I've been meaning to post that got me through his trunk successfully. I'll try and post those tomorrow. Please note that if you're using the Samsung display from the gumstix site it is an 18 bit display and will not show colors properly with qtopia, xfbdev, etc... There is a patch posted to the OE mailing list that might fix fbdev.c. I am in the process of implementing it now. It just repacks bits to work in 18 bit mode. good luck! thaGod Black, Michael-2 wrote: > > I seem to be having the same problem as Tony.... > > Rev 1541 > > > > Did the steps below > > svn co http://svn.gumstix.com/gumstix-buildroot/trunk gumstix-buildroot > > cd gumstix-buildroot > > make defconfig (left generic arm as the one choice asked for - this is > the "magic" that makes it break) > > make > > > > It then quickly dies because there is no uClibc.config in the > toolchain/uClibc directory. > > > > Can't the generic arm be used for either connex or verdex?
