So I down loaded good old revision 1161 and did
and loaded the resulting system and it worked ok
went back to buildroot, turned on FULL RPC SUPPORT
make clean in uClibc-0.9.28
and then make in gumstix_buildroot
downloaded to fs booted it and the wifi will not comeup
no such device as mwlan0
So currently I have the choice either WiFi or Player. Trouble is I need both!
I did find the following but it doesn't seem to apply in may case, I didn't
and I dont have .cf8385
I don't think I have toolchain_build_arm_nofpu
before I do the first make so I can't turn on FULL_RPC
befor the first make
ATTENTION wifistix users- If you delete the gumstix-buildroot/build_arm_nofpu/root directory then the wifistix support will not be properly re-installed unless you also delete the gumstix-buildroot/build_arm/.cf8385 file.
Any ideas? All I want is WiFi + player with roomba driver on the gumstix all else

I doubt very highly that the uClibc changes have anything to do with
wifi not coming up.
I seem to recall that in the earlier versions that MMC support was
enabled by default, and that you had to edit the /etc/modules file to
turn off MMC support and turn on pcmcia, which is required for the
wifi to work.

You can, but you need to do it by editing the uClibc.config file found
in the target/device/Gumstix/basix-connex directory.
