I have a Verdex Xm4 motherboard with attached console vx expansion board. I want to attach a standard usb joypad to the usb host port and accept its input. The joypad is a logic3 playstation style controller and I have used it previously with my laptop running Linux so I know it is defintely supported by Linux. When i plug it in to the host port (using a usb A to usb B mini converter) nothing happens, the green light on the front of the controller doesn't even come on. How do I enable joypad syupport? Is it a case of just changing one of the options in the buildroot and recompiling the filesystem image for the Gumstix or do I have to install a driver for it? If so how do I go about doing this? Thanks _________________________________________________________________ Get Pimped! FREE emoticon packs from Windows Live - http://www.pimpmylive.co.uk |

I believe the Verdex does not provide power to the USB port. If I'm right on this, your first step is to put a powered hub between the Verdex and your device. -----Original Message----- From: gum...@li... Hi, My verdex with a console-vx does seem to provide power to the USB port (though I guess this is done in the console-vx rather than the verdex). I can either plug in power in the hub or just directly into the console-vx and both works. So USB seems to power console-vx and console-vx seems to power USB. Could be a (kernel) or other buildroot issue... maybe try to run dmesg (and lsusb) to see if anything happens at all inside the verdex when you connect it? Or run dmesg on your normal linux machine when you plug it in to see which driver it is using and then see if there's the same driver for verdex? On my console-vx there was a spot to solder on a bead or a jumper wire. I used a jumper wire. My later console-vx board doesn't have this option, so it appears to be hard-wired now. There is enough power to drive things like USB flash. Other devices may require a powered hub, as you suggest. -- Dave Hylands Vancouver, BC, Canada http://www.DaveHylands.com/ |
