I'm looking at the schematic here:
On page 3, it shows IR_TXD and IR_RXD on the 60-pin connector attached
to signals named "Y0_TXD" and "Y0_RXD", which connect to the serial
chip. I don't see FF* at all on that connector, so I take it JTAG-vx is
using STUART.. ok.
It looks like STUART is ttyS2, but the Linux kernel doesn't seem to talk
to it when I set that in bootargs. Also, is there some way to get
U-Boot to use that same serial port instead of FFUART? That's the main
reason we ordered JTAG-vx, for the ability to re-flash U-Boot in case
something goes wrong -- it'd be helpful to see it on the JTAG-vx console
On the topic of re-flashing U-Boot, I have an Abatron BDI-2000 that I'm
planning to hook up to JTAG-vx, and I remember reading on this mailing
list that someone has put together an Abatron config file for the
Verdex, is that available yet?

Oh - I think that was an option to use a gumstix plugged into the
60-pin hirose connector to act as the JTAG programmer.
So the STUART port on the JTAG "master" could see the console of the
gumstix being programmed using the JTAG.
All of the signals that connect the JTAG being programmed are of the
touch probe variety.
The min-din8 connector will show the console of the gumstix being
programmed (which is NOT plugged into the hirose connector, but
connected through the spring loaded contact points.
