That seems like a reasonable place to start. Just be aware that the
1307 is a 5v device and the i2c on the breakout-gs is 3.3v. The data
sheet says that anythng above 2.2 is a logic high so it should work
fine. You'll need to use pullup resistors to goto 3.3v, and you'll
need to power the 1307 with +5v.

There are a ton of i2c sensors available and many sensors can be
converted into i2c by adding a small microprocessor.
