Hello I am new to gumstix and I was trying to run a script at boot. My script runs in the background and does not create a log file. When I run the script with the following command it runs fine, i can logout from the gumstix and when I come back it's still running nohup ./odot.ssh > error.log 2>&1 But how can I make the script run at boot? Where do I put the script in /etc? in which file or do I just write the link to the folder in which the script is located? Btw the full path of the script is /media/card/odot1/odot.ssh Thankls |

Hey Ant, You could add your script to the /etc/init.d/ scripts. See http://www.ghacks.net/2009/04/04/get-to-know-linux-the-etcinitd-directory/ for some info. Thanks for the reply =) Ok so I was reading about the init.d and I tried to put a script in that directory that would have the command I want for my script. In other words the script I want to run every time I boot is this: nohup ./odot.ssh > error.log 2>&1 This script is in a directory called /media/card/odot And so I created a script in the init.d directory that contains the following: nohup /media/card/odot.ssh > error.log 2>&1 I thought this would do the trick but I cannot get it to run at boot, any more ideas? Hey Ant, After you have put the script in intit.d you should run the command "update-rc.d <scriptname> defaults". This worked for me Shane |
