Hello. I'm new to Gumstix and need some advice on what set of boards
to order for a robotics project. Here are the capabilities I need:
1. Serial line interface (to talk to an SSC-32 robot controller board)
2. WiFi link to talk to a PC
3. Take USB webcam input and transmit via WiFi to a PC
4. Audio output (play WAV files)
5. Read pushbuttons, bump switches, possibly other sensors
I'm thinking a connex 400xm, a robaudio board, and wifistix-cf-fcc.
- Will this work?
- Where does the webcam plug in?
- Where can I find code to grab camera images and send out via WiFi?

For twelve years I was an embedded systems developer. I am now a grad
student working on a concept for a class project. I am definitely in need
of product selection help.
My team's project is a wearable computer that processes location and audio
(both input and output).
I had thought our product selection would be as simple as:
1. verdex pro™ XM4 COM Starter Pack
2. GPSstix (includes audio in/out)
3. GPS antenna (I'm in contact with another vendor for this)
However, I just learned that the Overo series is recommended for all new
customers. The Gallop43 seems a bit large and does not seem to include the
audio functionality of the GPSstix. It also seems to include rechargeable
batteries; are these able to power an entire Gumstix stack?
What are my expansion board options in the Overo line for GPS and audio
processing? What do I order to get up and running with a development
Thanks for any help.
I am using gumdroid (Gumstix' Android Port). I have been recently trying to upgrade my kernel from 2.6.32 to 2.6.39. The kernel compiles and loads, but now most things in the user space seg faults. For example it seems like app binaries in /system/bin seg fault. /system/bin/sh, /system/bin/gdbserver, etc. It seems busybox things are the only things that don't.
Does anyone know what has caused the other binaries to have this problem?
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
