Hi Ditch the pegs, and make sure it is seated properly. Put the summit board on a smooth padded surface an push down GENTLY ... An anti-static mat works great ... I agree with Bill. I've never used the pegs -- I think those are only if you have a concern about vibration acting on the Overo -- and I concur that you need to seat the Overo very gently but completely on the expansion board. Watch the new user videos to get an idea of how it is done. Once you have bitbaked your new OpenEmbedded build, you need to prepare a new SD card that contain the updated files. It looks like you did not put the updated X-loader on the SD card. The binary file "MLO*" is the same as "X-Loader". This web page: http://www.gumstix.org/create-a-bootable-microsd-card.html ...tells you what to do. You might want to create the SD card all over again, from scratch, because the file named MLO must be the first file on the first partition of the SD card. You can cp MLO... /your-boot-partition/MLO on the SD card. Can you see how MLO... gets renamed to plain old MLO? Your Overo will boot from the SD card first if it is present. It will load (boot to) the files you put on your SD card. Hi Bob Thanks for your response - I have wiped clean and repartioned my SD card as you suggested. I copied over x-load instead of MLO like I used to but am still finding that it is retaining an old version somehow shown in the following terminal output: tصb$U @ @ @D` @ @ Texas Instruments X-Loader 1.4.2 (Jul 8 2009 - 21:19:00) Reading boot sector Loading u-boot.bin from mmc U-Boot 2010.09 (Mar 19 2011 - 01:02:51) OMAP3530-GP ES3.1, CPU-OPP2, L3-165MHz, Max CPU Clock 600 mHz Gumstix Overo board + LPDDR/NAND I2C: ready DRAM: 128 MiB NAND: 256 MiB *** Warning - bad CRC or NAND, using default environment In: serial Out: serial Err: serial Board revision: 0 Tranceiver detected on mmc2 No EEPROM on expansion board Die ID #599a00040000000004032d460c012010 Net: smc911x-0 Hit any key to stop autoboot: 0 I2C read: I/O error I2C read: I/O error mmc1 is available reading boot.scr I did a bitbake -c clean x-load followed by a bitbake x-load (same for u-boot if that makes a difference) after having git pulled and my overo-oe/tmp/deploy/glibc/images/overo looks like this: 34158189 2011-02-12 19:10 Angstrom-omap3-console-image-glibc-ipk-2010.7-test-20110212-overo.rootfs.tar.bz2 4096 2011-02-12 19:11 Angstrom-omap3-console-image-glibc-ipk-2010.7-test-20110212-overo-testlab 34160457 2011-03-12 22:12 Angstrom-omap3-console-image-glibc-ipk-2010.7-test-20110312-overo.rootfs.tar.bz2 4096 2011-03-12 22:13 Angstrom-omap3-console-image-glibc-ipk-2010.7-test-20110312-overo-testlab 34159340 2011-03-13 22:27 Angstrom-omap3-console-image-glibc-ipk-2010.7-test-20110313-overo.rootfs.tar.bz2 4096 2011-03-13 22:29 Angstrom-omap3-console-image-glibc-ipk-2010.7-test-20110313-overo-testlab 67 2011-03-19 01:00 MLO-overo -> MLO-overo-1.44+r19+gitr6f3a26101303051e0f91b6213735b68ce804e94e-r19 24284 2011-03-19 01:00 MLO-overo-1.44+r19+gitr6f3a26101303051e0f91b6213735b68ce804e94e-r19 3891520 2011-02-12 19:05 modules-2.6.36-r97-overo.tgz 80 2011-03-13 22:27 omap3-console-image-overo.tar.bz2 -> Angstrom-omap3-console-image-glibc-ipk-2010.7-test-20110313-overo.rootfs.tar.bz2 195984 2011-03-19 01:03 u-boot-overo-2010.9+r1+git1e4e5ef0469050f014aee1204dae8a9ab6053e49-r1.bin 73 2011-03-19 01:03 u-boot-overo.bin -> u-boot-overo-2010.9+r1+git1e4e5ef0469050f014aee1204dae8a9ab6053e49-r1.bin 2907124 2011-02-12 19:05 uImage-2.6.36-r97-overo.bin 27 2011-02-12 19:05 uImage-overo.bin -> uImage-2.6.36-r97-overo.bin 24284 2011-03-19 01:00 x-load-overo-1.44+r19+gitr6f3a26101303051e0f91b6213735b68ce804e94e-r19.bin.ift 78 2011-03-19 01:00 x-load-overo.bin.ift -> x-load-overo-1.44+r19+gitr6f3a26101303051e0f91b6213735b68ce804e94e-r19.bin.ift 24276 2011-03-19 01:00 x-load-usb-overo-1.44+r19+gitr6f3a26101303051e0f91b6213735b68ce804e94e-r19.bin 78 2011-03-19 01:00 x-load-usb-overo.bin -> x-load-usb-overo-1.44+r19+gitr6f3a26101303051e0f91b6213735b68ce804e94e-r19.bin The modification date shows that the file has been updated. For some reason the OMAP ROM boot loader isn't happy with the SD card you've prepared. Just to verify there isn't something funky with the card, why don't you try making a card with the GNOME image from my web site. The process is completely automated, you just need to download a very small script. Instructions are here: http://www.sakoman.com/category/7-gnome-daily-builds-r12.html Steve On Wed, Mar 23, 2011 at 4:28 PM, titusgroan <tit...@gm...> wrote: > > I am still having trouble updating to the latest version of x-loader. The SD card created from the below script worked fine. My own script used to format an SD card inputs the value +50C instead of +32M for the following line Last cylinder or +size or +sizeM or +sizeK (1-247, default 15): +32M my bad. I am not exactly sure if this was causing the issue I was having but this is the only difference I see. With the updated x-loader my Overo no longer hangs at the "I2C:ready" point :) Thanks everyone sakoman wrote: > > For some reason the OMAP ROM boot loader isn't happy with the SD card > you've prepared. > > Just to verify there isn't something funky with the card, why don't > you try making a card with the GNOME image from my web site. > > The process is completely automated, you just need to download a very > small script.
