Updates on trouble shooting:
Last night, I bought a sandisk 1GB SD card and tried playing with it and nothing also. I also re-formatted both cards under linux and nothing. I've also tried doing all the procedures with and without the robostix plugged in because i read somewhere that there can be voltage issues with a robostix plugged in.
Console: basix 400xm-bt.
tweener modified to work with robostix.
Expansion board: robostix.

I've looked through nabble and have found similar people with my problem, but i don't understand what i need to do to fix this. MMCINIT tell me no mmc card found. Is there a special way to format the card that I need to do? is it the buildroot version?

The cards, when used with older u-boot, need to be formatted as
FAT16; newer u-boot also supports FAT32.
Last night I hopped on ubuntu and did an fdisk on the card's mmcblk0 and created mmcblk0p1. Then, i did an mkdosfs on p1. When i do an "ls /dev" in ubuntu, my mmcblk0 and 0p1 appear. I put in the gumstix, connect to kermit. I put the mmc card in and do an "ls /dev" and nothing has mmc...try to mount with "mount /mnt/mmc", obviously it doesn't work. I reboot and try again. nothing, get the message "/dev/mmcblk0p1 not found in.." everytime i try to mount.
I then reboot and go into uboot and do the mmc command...nothing. Try again over and over and nothing.
There is some step I am missing and i don't know what. Why does it appear in ubuntu but not in gumstix? How can i make it appear in gumstix?
