Seeing as how I fried my MMC card last night (don't ask), I suppose I'm in the market for a new one. Is there any technical benefit over getting an SD vs. MMC card? Do you actually support the 4x bandwidth (I think) that SD has over MMC? Johann -----Original Message----- From: gum...@li... Subject: [Gumstix-users] SD card support The new r152 image includes software support for SD media cards. This=20 new code may well have broken support for some MMC cards -- we are=20 working on resolving this, but thought the best way to get reactions=20 from people saying "My card xyz doesn't work any more" was to push it=20 out there. We've eliminated many of these problems already, but there=20 are likely a handful left we need to deal with. Please let us know if=20 an MMC card which had been working for you no longer is. All SD cards=20 should be working correctly, that we know. Turns out this is a moot issue for me, anyway. My MMC card was just fine, it was the 8-in-1 belkin reader I got to replace my old reader that was faulty. Cat + softdrinks + USB periphreals =3D not happiness. Anyway, after enabling multiple LUNs on my Fedora Core, the card wouldn't work with the new reader, thus card broken. Nope - had the bloody thing in upside down - with the lable on my Gumstix MMC card pointing down. Oops. :) Johann -----Original Message----- From: gum...@li... MMC and SD cards are pretty resilient http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/technology/3939333.stm If your card's not working, it's probably not the card, it's probably you :) C On Oct 5, 2004, at 10:02 AM, Klemmack, Johann wrote: > Turns out this is a moot issue for me, anyway. The gumstix cpu cannot support the 4X data bus in hardware. Of course if you use you card to move data between the gumstix and another system, the SD/MMC adapters probably do support 4X.
